If you are injured on the job while working in occupations associated with ship repair or loading vessels, you may be covered under a Federal workers’ compensation law, the U.S. Longshore and Harborworkers’ Compensation Act.
Covered occupations include:
- Ship repair
- Ship or barge construction
- Marine construction; and
- Loading or unloading of vessels.
You are eligible for benefits which include payment for medical care, payment for your lost time, and, if you are unable to return to your regular work, payment of compensation for permanent disability.
You are allowed one free choice of attending physician, so it is important that you select a doctor to treat you who you trust, and who communicates well with you.
I do not charge you for a consultation, and I am paid by contingent fee - if I am successful in gaining benefits on your behalf, the insurance company pays my fee.
If you have been injured on a job covered under this law, call me at (503) 236-0068, and I will be happy to answer your questions.
